Downtown Revitalization Incentives Program extended

$1.7 million in grant funding remains available on a first come, first served basis

Phase 3 of the Downtown Revitalization Incentives Program (DRIP) has been extended until funds are spent. Council approved the extension and minor updates to the program policy at the March 24 Council meeting.

$1.7 million in grant funding will remain available until all funds have been fully committed to eligible revitalization projects in downtown Fort McMurray.

Additional program updates

Eligibility adjustments

To proactively prevent municipal funds from being used multiple times for the same projects, a minor policy change will ensure that projects that receive other municipal funding for the same scope of work are no longer eligible for DRIP grants.

Improved project timelines

To help keep applications moving forward, program staff may now close or withdraw inactive applications after 4 weeks of no communication with the applicant. This ensures funding is directed toward active and ready-to-proceed projects.

Downtown businesses & organizations encouraged to apply

DRIP offers four grant streams to help downtown businesses, commercial property owners, and community organizations enhance their buildings and surrounding spaces. Additional funding is also available to support accessibility upgrades and crime prevention measures, contributing to a more inclusive, welcoming, and safer downtown.
