The Parallax Way Finder

The Parallax Way Finder represents a new category of responsive public art that transforms spaces through participatory light experiences. Rather than a static display, the installation creates an evolving environment where visitors become co-creators of the artistic experience through their movement and presence.

The Parallax Way Finder installation The Parallax Way Finder is an innovative interactive light-based art installation premiering at igNIGHT this October 2025. This groundbreaking work explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, creating an immersive environment where light responds dynamically to human presence and movement.

This installation marks the first in a planned series exploring interactive technology as a medium for community engagement, positioning art as a bridge between individual experience and collective participation. The work demonstrates how creative technology can transform public spaces into dynamic, responsive environments that invite exploration and discovery.

Brandon Tyson - The Parallax Way Finder

Portrait of Brandon Tyson

Brandon is a two-spirit Anishinaabe artist from Wikwemikoong First Nation, currently practicing in Moh'kinsstis (Calgary). Over eight years with Light Box Project Inc., Brandon has cultivated a distinctive practice merging traditional

Indigenous craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology leading him to create immersive light-based installations and sculptural works.

His artistic practice centers on laser-etched wood and acrylic components integrated with programmable LED systems and microcontroller technology. This unique approach transforms static materials into dynamic, responsive environments that invite community participation and exploration.

Brandon's work is deeply influenced by Indigenous perspectives on technology and the relationship between traditional artmaking and digital innovation. His installations challenge conventional boundaries between craft and technology, creating immersive experiences that bridge individual expression with collective engagement.

Currently pursuing a BFA in Media Arts at AUArts, Brandon continues to explore how contemporary technology can amplify Indigenous artistic traditions while fostering inclusive community spaces through interactive art.

David Harrison - The Parallax Way Finder

David “Furdy FurDelicious” Harrison is a non-binary human and member of the LGBTQI+ community. He is also a student at AUarts, going for his BFA in Media Arts. He finds great joy and healing in expressing himself through art. His life started to revolve around art when he started using it as a healing tool in trauma therapy for C-PTSD over 10 years ago. He uses art to explore and express himself and the world as he sees and feels it. He expresses himself through painting, poetry, fashion, LED art, and art installations.

Most of his pieces are an expression of his love, whether it be love of community, platonic love, or romantic love. More inspiration comes from observing those in the community who authentically embrace and express themselves, usually at music festivals. He loves to participate in the impact that behaviour has on society.

The ARRAY

Person looking into The ARRAY installation The ARRAY was originally commissioned as an interactive, multi-disciplinary, immersive art installation designed to demonstrate a simple, but effective, solar system in a dazzling display of video and light.

It’s still capable of this original purpose but in its newest transformation/iteration, the entire installation is configurable in almost any orientation, delivering a unique, magical, malleable experience connected to almost any theme or purpose.

Panels with reflective surfaces, connected by LED infused mats, create a gallery that guests can explore day or night. The mirrored cover will reflect the environment until users activate the panel with motion, then the video screen comes alive!

The STARQUARIUM

The STARQUARIUM is best described as a one-of-a-kind, intergalactic aquarium. The main vessel is connected to a gateway through space and time, delivering flora, fauna and other mysteries from faraway worlds. The viewing chamber “captures” the specimens for a short period of time so our scientists and the public can observe these magical enigmas before they disappear through the gate from which they came.

In this iteration, “players” will communicate with the artwork using a custom interactive console playing a game of ‘Simon Says’. Each unlocked level will reward players with a new, extraordinary specimen.

Luxtriplicata

Luxtriplicata installation Luxtriplicata, is a hands-on light installation that merges the worlds of art, science, and play. At its core is a rotatable plate holding cube-shaped glass prisms, illuminated by a white light source. As visitors interact with the prisms, their touch transforms the white light into a vivid 360° universe of rainbow colors that dance and shimmer across the surroundings.

This is not an artwork to be merely observed; it is one to be explored, shaped, and reimagined. In Luxtriplicata, the audience takes an active role - shaping the light art themselves and uncovering the beauty of light through curiosity, play, and communal experience.

Into The Unknown

Into The Unknown illustration Into The Unknown is a playful and thought-provoking public art installation created by local artists Caius Hubris and LMW Art, and Edmonton-based arts team Karlie & Kevin Christie, collaborating under the name Hubris & Nemesis.

This immersive experience explores the theme of “The Unknown” through curiosity, wonder, and human connection. The artists have created an experience that is as approachable as it is mysterious, allowing everyone to participate in their own way.

Experiencing the installation invites visitors into a moment of transformation. Light, sound, and surprise converge in a way that blurs the boundary between the real and the imagined. Inspired by sci-fi encounters and classic pop culture tropes, the work invites participants to consider the unknown not just as something "out there," but within ourselves: our questions, our memories, our possibilities.

Into The Unknown is about the interaction between people and place, memory and imagination, offering a chance to pause, play, and ponder.
