Introduction

Fibre Connect, a CRTC regulated provider of fibre-optic technology, is installing fibre optic lines and infrastructure throughout Fort McMurray. This project, conducted alongside TELUS, will bring TELUS PureFibre to even more homes and businesses in the area.

Ledcor Technical Services is the subcontractor designing and building the network for Fibre Connect. 

Project details/Community impact

Fibre optic lines and infrastructure are being installed now by Fibre Connect and their contractors. This new infrastructure, conducted alongside TELUS, will provide residents and businesses options to access fibre optic technology and services such as high-speed internet if desired. Fibre Connect representatives will be going door-to-door to share information and request approval to connect to your premises.

The work may involve excavation in the roadway and on public property (easement/right of way) to install essential cables and infrastructure. You may notice signage in your area indicating when crews are actively working. 

Utility right-of-way

The Municipality and various utility companies have the right to access the utilities or services that are commonly buried within the utility right-of-way, such as electrical lines, telephone lines and internet cables for homes and businesses.

For everyone’s safety, please follow all construction signage, keep a safe distance from equipment and do not enter closed areas.
