Fire Bans lifted in Fort McMurray

Residents encouraged to be wildfire safe and keep informed this summer

The municipality has lifted the Fire Ban for the urban service area of Fort McMurray. The fire ban for the forest area has also been lifted by the province.

Although the wildfire threat has eased, everyone is encouraged to be diligent and responsible while enjoying trails, campfires and backyard firepits.

Residents in Fort McMurray should also review updated rules for outdoor fires. The updated bylaw regulates fire pits, outdoor fires and permits, and includes increased fines for violations.

OHV use may resume on Abasand roads

With the end of the Fire Ban, the suspension of off-highway vehicle (OHV) use on municipal roads in Abasand is also lifted.

OHV use in other neighbourhoods in the Urban Service Area is prohibited, regardless of whether a Fire Ban is in place or not. Riders are reminded to drive responsibly, check hot spots frequently and follow all rules and regulations. Learn more at rmwb.ca/ohv
