Firefighters to camp on roof for 100 hours in support of local charities
Six local firefighters are gearing up for the annual rooftop campout in support of local charities.
An opening ceremony will kick off the rooftop campout on Thursday, April 13 at 11 a.m. at East Village Pub (EVP). The firefighters will climb the fire truck ladder to the top of Tim Hortons in Eagle Ridge where they will sleep, eat, and raise funds for 100 straight hours.
Residents are encouraged to visit the firefighters throughout the four-day campout. All are welcome to enter daily raffles, donate and participate in nightly events at EVP on April 14 and 15 from 9 p.m. to midnight.
An annual campout highlight, a family friendly pancake breakfast, will be held on April 16 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The Fort McMurray Fire Department Charities Association will donate funds raised to six local charities: the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club, the Wood Buffalo Food Bank, Fort McMurray SPCA, Centre of Hope and Waypoints.
