FireSmart Vegetation Management project – Fort McMurray – Birchwood Trails
FireSmart treatments will be conducted along the Birchwood Trails along Cornwall and Duncan Drive in Thickwood to manage vegetation and mitigate wildfire risks. This project will thin and prune trees and clean out debris in high-hazard forested areas totalling nine hectares.
All work will be completed with hand crews. Firewood may be available to the public as the project progresses. Please follow all signage, keep a safe distance from workers and equipment.

Smoke may be visible during burning operations. Some trail areas may be closed to residents. Please follow all signage, keep a safe distance from workers and equipment and do not enter closed areas.

FireSmart uses preventative measures to reduce the wildfire threat to homes and communities while balancing the benefits of wildfire on the landscape. Firewood may be available to the public as the project progresses.
