Municipality, Cenovus Energy sign mutual aid agreement to support Conklin fire response

A mutual aid agreement recently signed between the Municipality and Cenovus Energy Inc. will support fire and rescue operations in Conklin.

When available, emergency resources from the Christina Lake Thermal Project will be dispatched through the Municipality’s 911 call centre to incidents in the community.

Janvier and Anzac volunteer fire departments, and the Fort McMurray Fire Department will also continue to support fire and rescue response in the community while the Conklin Fire Department rebuilds its membership.

Regional Emergency Services would like to thank Cenovus and all mutual aid partners in the region who support emergency response in Wood Buffalo.

The Conklin Fire Department is seeking dedicated and reliable community members to join their team!

Until more paid-on-call firefighters are recruited and trained, the Conklin department is not safely able to respond to emergencies.

Interested Conklin community members are encouraged to apply now. Firefighters are paid for training time and for responding to fires.
