Notice is hereby given that Nomination Day is Monday, October 7, 2024 and that the nominations for the election of candidates for the office of Ward 4 Councillor will be received as set out below during regular business hours within the period beginning on September 11, 2024 and ending at 12:00 noon on Nomination Day, Monday, October 7, 2024.

Filing of Nomination

All candidates running for Ward 4 must submit the completed Nomination Paper and Candidate’s Acceptance (Form 4) and the Candidate Financial Information (Form 5). All candidates must also submit the required nomination fee of $100 for the position of Councillor, and the fee must be paid by cash, certified cheque, or money order.

All candidates are encouraged to file paperwork as soon as possible. The deadline of 12 noon on October 7, 2024 for accepting nominations is legislated and cannot be changed or extended.

Changes in provincial legislation have allowed candidates to file paperwork in person or by mail or courier since September 11, 2024. Due to this extended nomination period, in-person appointments for nominations will only be provided in Fort McMurray.

The Returning Officer cannot accept a nomination that is:

• not completed in the prescribed form;
• not signed by at least five (5) eligible electors;
• not sworn or affirmed by the person nominated;
• not accompanied by the required deposit.
