Regional Emergency Services receives national accreditation for EMS

Paramedics responded to more than 7,300 calls for service in Wood Buffalo in 2025

Regional Emergency Services (RES) has achieved national accreditation for its ground ambulance service.

RES provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) within most of the Wood Buffalo region through a multi-year agreement with the province. In 2025, RES paramedics responded to more than 7,300 calls for service in the region.

Accreditation reflects high quality EMS service

The service was evaluated through the Accreditation Canada Qmentum Global program, involving a comprehensive evaluation of care practices, governance, leadership, and commitment to quality and safety. This process identifies and addresses gaps that impact care, and helps organizations enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

Achieving accredited status is a testament to the consistently high standard upheld by paramedics, leaders, and support staff within RES.

“This accreditation reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of all team members to deliver safe, high-quality, and people-centred care,” said Kelly Roberts, Acting Regional Fire Chief. “We are proud to have met these standards and will continue working to enhance the services we provide for the community.”
