RMWB accepts wildfire evacuees from Northwest Territories

Since Monday, Aug. 14, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo welcomed more than 260 wildfire evacuees from the Northwest Territories.

The municipality is working in collaboration with the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre in support of the evacuees and is providing temporary accommodations at hotels in Fort McMurray. A temporary registration centre has been established at the Clearwater Hotel.

We understand people in Wood Buffalo want to help, but at this time, please note we are not accepting donations of clothing or other items for evacuees.

The United Way NWT has mobilized and launched a fundraising campaign to support those impacted by the wildfires and help them respond to the damage they’ve experienced. For more information visit: https://nwt.unitedway.ca/2023-emergency-response
