RMWB prepares for spring melt

Crews are at work across the region to reduce drainage risks and residents can help

The Municipality is preparing for warmer spring temperatures. Crews are actively working to reduce the risk of water pooling and drainage issues from this winter’s above-average snowfall.

A coordinated, region-wide effort is underway in both urban and rural areas as crews focus on clearing catch basins, roadway culverts, snow removal, infrastructure checks and preparing drainage systems. Additional crews and equipment are in place to prioritize this work and respond quickly to changing conditions.

Help keep water flowing the right way this spring

As Municipal crews are clearing snow and ice from streets and catch basins to prepare for the spring melt, you can help by keeping an eye on drains in your area.

If you notice a blocked municipal catch basin or water not draining properly, please report it so crews can respond accordingly.

Residents also play an important role in protecting their homes during the spring melt. Small actions can make a big difference in reducing impacts to your property.

  • Clear snow and ice from drains and around foundations

  • Keep downspouts directed away from foundations
