Road Surface and Alleyways Improvement Hinge Road and Bay

Introduction:

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is preparing to complete road surface improvement work on Hinge Road and Hinge Bay. The scope of work includes milling and paving, storm sewer replacement [between addresses 101 and 129 – PHASE 1], concrete sidewalk and curb reconstruction. The work will be completed in phases to minimize impacts to residents.

Project Details:

This project will improve the road surface on Hinge Road and Hinge Bay through milling and paving, along with replacing the storm sewer between addresses 101 and 129. Sidewalks and curbs will be repaired, driveways restored, new pavement markings installed, and landscaping refreshed. Work will be done in phases to keep disruptions as low as possible.

Despite the ongoing work in their area, residents are asked to place their garbage and recycling bins in front of their homes the evening before collection (Wednesday evening). The contractor will transport them to the collection point and return them to each home on Thursday evening. Please clearly mark your home address on your bins to ensure they are returned to the correct residence.

All dates and timelines outlined are approximations of when the work may be taking place in this area. Access to the work area may be required throughout the project area at any time.  

E. Construction will adhere to applicable noise and disturbance bylaws. Timelines are subject to change based on weather, equipment and other unforeseen factors.

Community Benefit:

As each phase of construction is completed, the affected portions of Hinge Road and Hinge Bay will be restored with improved road surfaces, upgraded drainage, and enhanced pedestrian infrastructure. At the completion of the project, the impacted areas will benefit from safer, smoother roads and refreshed landscaping, reflecting the Municipality’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing community infrastructure.

Special Instructions for Residents:

Residents located within the active construction phase are encouraged to park on adjacent streets, while ensuring compliance with all applicable bylaws.

Pedestrian access within construction zones may be limited. Residents may see traffic delays to complete certain aspects of the work. The sections under construction will be flagged during the regular work hours, when needed; however, the roads are to remain open to traffic.

Signage will be in place for each phase of construction.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times in the event of an emergency.

For your safety and the safety of construction crews, please keep away from heavy equipment and obey all signage.
