Saprae Creek Pedestrian Bridge Replacement

Introduction and Background:

The Municipality will be replacing the existing timber pedestrian bridge with a culvert structure along the multi-use trail adjacent to Spruce Valley Drive in the Saprae Creek Community. The replacement is being undertaken due to structural concerns associated with the existing bridge.

Area Impacted:

The location of the bridge in Saprae Creek Estates.

The bridge is located on Spruce Valley Drive, between Weiss Drive and Community Lane.

Project Details:

The proposed scope of work involves the complete demolition and removal of the existing timber bridge structure currently spanning the ditch along Spruce Valley Drive. All components of the bridge, including timber decking, supporting members, and foundations, are to be dismantled and safely removed from the site. Following removal, the crossing will be reconstructed with a culvert and gravel structure, and the walking trail will be fully restored.

Community Benefit:

Upon completion of construction, the crossing over the ditch will be fully restored with a gravel surfaced walking trail, ensuring safe pedestrian passage.

Special Instructions for Residents:

Please watch for posted construction signage and exercise caution when driving near the active construction area. At this time, no street closures or traffic re-routes are planned that would impede vehicle or pedestrian movement in the construction zones. However, the gravel trail crossing over the ditch will remain closed to public access for the duration of construction. 

Construction work will happen from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
