Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station-July 21, 2025

Introduction:

The Municipality is getting ready to resume construction at the Abasand Skate Park.
As a reminder, the original skate park was removed to allow for the installation of underground infrastructure needed to support increased water flow to the Urban Service Area and southern rural hamlets as part of the Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station project.

Proposed Start and End Dates:

July 23, 2025 to August 31, 2025

Contractor:

H.Wilson Industries (2010) Ltd.

Lead Department:

Project Management Office

Project Details:

As part of the Saunderson Pressure Reducing Station Project, landscape restoration work will resume at the Abasand Skate Park. During construction, access to certain areas of the park may be temporarily restricted. Please follow all posted signs, watch for workers, and keep a safe distance from construction equipment.

Community Benefit:

This project will improve the water flow to communities south of the Urban Service Area which includes Saline Creek Plateau, Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates, Saprae Creek Estates and the Fort McMurray Airport. The station also creates opportunities for a redundant (back-up) supply of water in the event of an emergency.

Construction Impact: Skate Park:

As restoration of the skate park continues, landscaping and paving will take place.
Access to the skate park ramps will be maintained whenever possible; however, for safety reasons and depending on the stage of construction, there may be temporary access restrictions.

Special Instructions for Residents:

For your safety, and the safety of construction crews, please keep away from heavy equipment, and follow all signage.
