SDAB 2025-007 Notification of Preliminary and Merit Hearings

TAKE NOTICE, that that the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has received an appeal against the Approval of Development Permit No. 2025-DP-00169, an application for a  Permanent Liquor Store, Office and Warehouse Sales building (with a temporary liquor store operating for up to one year while permanent building is completed), at the property known as Lot 3, Block 10, being 193 Mackenzie Avenue, Fort Chipewyan, Alberta.

In accordance with Section 686 of the Municipal Government Act, R.S.A 2000, c. M-26, an Appeal Hearing must be held by the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board upon receipt of a Notice of Appeal.

The preliminary hearing, to determine the scope of the appeal, is set as follows:

Date:              Monday, December 15, 2025

Time:             6:00 p.m.

Format:         Virtually via Microsoft Teams

The virtual participation link and instructions will be provided to the parties via email on the day of the hearing. 

The merit hearing is set as follows:

Date:              Monday, February 2, 2026 (Tuesday, February 3, 2026 overflow)

Time:             6:00 p.m.

Format:         Virtually via Microsoft Teams

The virtual participation link and instructions will be provided to the parties via email on the day of the hearing. 

In accordance with section 629 of the Municipal Government Act, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board may, while carrying out its powers, duties and responsibilities, accept any oral or written evidence. Affected parties and adjacent property owners wishing to make a presentation to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board or wishing to submit written comments must submit their request as follows:

Preliminary Hearing: 12:00 p.m., December 9, 2025

Merit Hearing: 12:00 p.m., January 22, 2026

It is at the discretion of the Board to accept any submissions filed beyond these dates.

It is the responsibility of the parties to ensure that the evidence has been received. Affected parties/adjacent property owners will be given five (5) minutes of time to present their evidence.
