SDAB 2025-010 – Merit Hearing – Appeal Against the Approval of a Development Permit Application for a Group Home

TAKE NOTICE, that the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has received an appeal against a Development Officer’s APPROVAL of Development Permit No. 2025-DP-00308, an application for a Change of Use for a Group Home (Adult Female Recovery Centre), at the property known as Lot 2, Block 18, Plan 8320288, being 208 Blanchett Road, Fort McMurray, Alberta.

In accordance with Section 686 of the Municipal Government Act, R. S. A 2000, c. M-26, an Appeal Hearing must be held by the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board upon receipt of an Appeal.

The appeal hearing is set as follows:

Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2026

Time: 6:00 p.m.

Format: Virtually via Microsoft Teams

The virtual participation link and instructions will be provided to the parties via email on the

day of the hearing.

In accordance with section 629 of the Municipal Government Act, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board may, while carrying out its powers, duties and responsibilities, accept any oral or written evidence. Affected parties and adjacent property owners wishing to make an oral presentation, wishing to submit evidence, or wishing to register as an observer, must submit their request to sdab@rmwb.ca on or before 12:00 p.m. (noon), Wednesday, March 4, 2026. It is at the discretion of the Board to accept any evidence filed beyond this date.

It is the responsibility of the parties to ensure that the evidence has been received. Affected parties/adjacent property owners will be given five (5) minutes of time to present their evidence.
