Seasonal Flood Mitigation – Clearwater Drive

Introduction: 

The Municipality is preparing for the 2026 River Break season and will be implementing seasonal flood protection measures in key areas to bolster the permanent flood protection measures. Construction will involve the temporary closure of some parking areas and trails, as well as the closure of Clearwater Drive from Franklin Avenue to King Street.

Project Details/Background 

Construction will involve the temporary closure of Clearwater Drive from Franklin Avenue to King Street for the installation of surface protection measures. Anticipated road closure will begin March 15, 2026. It is anticipated that the road will reopen to two-way traffic by April 10, 2026.  

Intermittent construction along Clearwater Drive between Franklin Avenue and Borealis Park will also be experienced during this time. There will be temporary closures of select trails.  

Please plan for potential delays in nearby areas and allow for extra time to get to your destination.
