Share your voice on youth issues in the region
Apply to join the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth by Aug. 11
Students entering grades 9 to 12 in the next school year are encouraged to apply for the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Youth (MACOY) this summer.
Made up of 26 students from across the region, MACOY members work closely with community leaders, participate in meaningful volunteer work and support community events throughout the year.
“MACOY members provide important insight, ideas and perspectives, and it’s a great way for young people to get involved with the Municipality and the entire region,” said Mayor Sandy Bowman. “If you want to make a difference, we encourage you to learn more and consider becoming part of MACOY.”
Past projects
Whether looking to stand out in your post-secondary application or ready to work on a passion project with other like-minded individuals, there are lots of reasons to join MACOY.
Past MACOY projects have included:
- Hosting the MACOY Virtual University Speaker Series for prospective post-secondary students.
- Partnering with MacDonald Island Park to develop Paint Your World, an art exhibit at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery.
- Engaging with RMWB Transit Services during development of the RMWB Transit Master Plan.
