Silin Forest Road Deep Utilities Upgrades-May 28, 2025

Starting as early as Thursday (May 29), crews will be working on a water main replacement to the Thickwood Reservoir and pumphouse, as part of the Silin Forest Deep Utility Upgrades project.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of August 2025.
Buildings in Thickwood, Wood Buffalo and Dickensfield may experience reduced water pressure. Affected businesses adjacent to the construction will be provided with temporary above-ground water service, and will be contacted directly by the contractor.
The contractor E-Construction will be in the areas illustrated in the site image.
Proposed Start and End Dates: May 29, 2025 - August 31, 2025
Contractor: E-Construction Ltd.
Project Details
The Thickwood Perimeter Sewer project is a multi-year, multi-phase project to rehabilitate infrastructure in Thickwood. The purpose of this project is to improve the sanitary and storm system, as well as replace and optimize aging assets.
Community Benefit
This project includes renewed underground infrastructure (water mains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers), new roads and a widened sidewalk on the north side of Silin Forest Road. This will provide enhanced pedestrian and active transportation connectivity on the trails at Helen Pacholko Park and near the Rotary gazebo.
Help conserve water
There are many easy ways to save water at home to help maintain water pressure and reduce strain on the system:
- Take quick showers
- Reduce water use for laundry and dishwashing
- Wait before watering the lawn – collect rainwater if possible
- Wash your vehicle less
- Fix leaky sinks and toilets
