Thickwood apartment building fire leads to temporary evacuations of residents

Fire extinguishedevacuees received support from community partners 

This morning, Regional Emergency Services (RES) firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to an apartment building fire in Thickwood at 421 Ross Haven Drive. 

The fire was reported before 11 a.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire, and all residents from the 43-unit building were evacuated safely. 

The apartment unit where the fire started was significantly damaged

RES would like to thank the RMWB Emergency Social Services and Transit Services, as well as the Salvation Army and other community partners for their efforts in providing temporary support to evacuees.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
