Winter Maintenance Subzones 1 and 2 active Feb. 9-13 for snow removal
Watch for temporary no parking signs in Thickwood, Timberlea and downtown Feb. 7-8
Subzones 1 and 2 will be active from Feb. 9-13 for snow removal operations, with on-street parking restrictions in effect 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vehicles left in active subzones or where temporary no parking signs are posted are subject to a $120 Notice of Violation plus towing fees.
Winter maintenance will continue in subzones 3 and 4 during the next scheduled activation, expected Feb. 16-20.
Back-alley snow removal is also ongoing across Fort McMurray, with priority given to those that are used for garbage and recycling collection.
Watch for temporary no parking signs
Temporary no parking signs are placed 24 hours in advance of scheduled winter maintenance. After 24 hours, vehicles must be removed from the street until the signs are removed.
Over the weekend (Feb. 7-8), crews will be removing snow from sections of the busier (primary, secondary and tertiary) streets in Thickwood, Timberlea and downtown. Watch for temporary no-parking signs in these areas.
Total snow removal progress
Since the start of the season, snow removal has been completed one time on all streets in the WMZ program. This does not mean work is complete. Crews will continue maintenance in these areas with additional snow removal ongoing in all zones.
Now that 100 per cent of WMZ streets have received snow removal once, the percentage progress tracker will be discontinued with regular weekly winter maintenance updates continuing.
