Winter Maintenance Subzones 3 and 4 active Jan. 19-23 for snow removal

Follow parking restrictions to help get maintenance done faster. Additional enforcement in effect.

Subzones 3 and 4 will be active from Jan.19-23 for snow removal operations, with on-street parking restrictions in effect 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Subzones 1 and 2 will be active Jan. 26-30.

Additional winter maintenance happening this weekend

Snow removal continuing on WMZ streets in Parsons Creek North

Crews will be continuing snow removal in subzone 3 in Parsons Creek North on Jan. 17 -18. Watch for temporary no-parking signs placed 24 hours in advance and remove vehicles from the street until the signs are taken down.

Watch for temporary no parking signs in Thickwood

On Jan.17 and 18, crews will also be removing snow from the busier streets not included in the WMZ program (primary, secondary and tertiary streets). Crews will be focusing on streets in Thickwood this weekend.

Temporary no parking signs are placed 24 hours in advance of planned maintenance. After 24 hours, on-street parking restrictions will be in effect, and parked vehicles must be removed from the street until the signs are taken away. Vehicles returning during maintenance create safety hazards.

Crews are trying to complete as many roads as possible and windrows may be left on streets overnight. It is important that vehicles don’t park near windrows left overnight, as crews will be returning the following day to remove them.

Progress on Winter Maintenance Zones

Subzones 1 and 2 are active this week, and crews continue to make progress in these areas with just three remaining streets to receive maintenance. Approximately 75 per cent of WMZ streets have received maintenance this past month.

Today, snow removal operations were done on the following streets:

  •           Lanauze St.
  • Lawrence St.
  • Lavalee Bay
  • Lougheed Bay
  • Leitner Gate
  • Lindstrom Cres.
  • Breukel Cres.
  • Brebeuf Cres.
  • Blanchett Rd.
  • Bacon Pl.
  • Bergeron Rd.

Crews may come back in the following days to do minor maintenance on these streets, such as clearing more snow in cul de sacs.

Follow parking restrictions

While good progress is being made, there continues to be a high number of vehicles left on streets when parking restrictions are in effect. This prevents crews from completing work on these streets, and it may be skipped so crews can continue maintenance where access is available.

Vehicles left in active subzones or areas where no-parking signs are posted are subject to a $120 Notice of Violation plus towing fees.

Submit requests to Pulse online for a faster response

Pulse is receiving a very high volume of requests. Please be patient as we work through all requests as quickly as possible. Following up regularly on requests already submitted causes delays in response times for original requests.

Requests submitted online will receive a faster response. Pulse inquiries will be marked as complete online if it’s been transferred to the appropriate department to address, such as the Roads team. Although it appears complete online, the request remains active and there will be an operational response and follow up, if required.

Submit an online request form at rmwb.ca/pulse.

Help keep your street clear and accessible

·         Follow parking restrictions

·         Clear your driveway and the sidewalks next to your home within 48 hours of a snowfall.

·         Help neighbours who may need assistance shoveling.

·         Do not shovel snow back onto your street or around fire hydrants. Shovel snow onto your property (e.g., your yard or the green space between driveways).
