Winter Maintenance Subzones 3 and 4 active March 16 – 20 for snow removal

Snow removal operation continuing with on-street parking restrictions in effect

Subzones 3 and 4 are active from March 16 to March 20 as the snow removal operation continues, with on-street parking restrictions in effect.

Subzones 1 and 2 are expected to be active from March 23 to March 27 for snow removal.

Snow removal involves loading snow into trucks and hauling it to a snow disposal site. It takes more time and resources than snow plowing and typically happens only once or twice per winter season.

Watch for temporary no-parking signs

Watch for temporary "no parking" signs if you live on a street not included in the WMZ program (Primary, Secondary or Tertiary Route). Crews will continue snow removal this weekend (March 14-15) Downtown and in Thickwood.

Temporary no parking signs will be placed in locations 24 hours in advance of planned snow removal. After the signs have been removed, you may park your vehicle back on the street.

Help keep garbage and recycling collection on schedule

Heavy snowfall is making it harder for crews to safely reach garbage and recycling bins. Please help keep collection on schedule:

  • Place bins in front of windrows, never on top of snowbanks.

  • Keep lids free of snow and ice.

Bins blocked by snow, ice, or windrows may not be collected.

Take care when crossing windrows and around snow piles

Be cautious when crossing windrows, and do not climb on streetside or cul de sac snow piles.

Help keep your street accessible

  • Remove empty garbage and recycling bins from the street after collection.

  • Clear your driveway and sidewalks next to your home within 48 hours of a snowfall.

  • Shovel snow onto your yard or greenspace between driveways. Never back onto the street or around fire hydrants.

  • Be mindful when parking to not block street access.
