Winter Maintenance Update: Monday, Feb. 2

Follow parking restrictions—snow removal operations are ongoing in all subzones

Crews are getting closer to completing snow removal at least once this winter on all streets in the Winter Maintenance Zone (WMZ) program. This does not mean that work is finished, as snow removal operations continue in all subzones, prioritizing streets in most need of maintenance if access is available.

Total snow removal progress

This winter, snow removal has been completed on approximately:

·         97% of total WMZ streets complete

o    100% of Subzone 1 complete

o    100% of Subzone 2 complete

o    88% of Subzone 3 complete

o    100% of Subzone 4 complete

The percentages shown reflect snow removal progress since the start of the WMZ season. Once snow removal operations are done once on a WMZ street, it is marked complete. Even when a subzone shows as 100 per cent complete, crews will still be doing maintenance in these areas with additional snow removal ongoing in all zones.

Once 100% of WMZ streets receive snow removal once, the percentage progress tracker will be discontinued with regular winter maintenance updates continuing.

Progress on Winter Maintenance Zones

Regular WMZ parking restrictions are in effect this week in subzones 3 and 4. Vehicles must be off the street from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the scheduled maintenance day. Vehicles need to be moved before crews arrive and can’t return to the street before 6 p.m., even if work appears complete, as crews may need to return.

Today, crews completed snow removal on the following WMZ streets:

  • Golosky Ave.
  • Tomlinson St.
  • Railway Ave.
  • Hughes Ave.
  • Park Pl.
  • Park St.
  • Huggard St.
  • Bishop St.
  • Pearson Dr.
  • Pearson Bay
  • Cote Bay
  • Pelican Dr.
  • Parkview Dr.
  • Paradise Rd.
  • Primrose Ln.

Crews may come back in the following days to do minor maintenance on these streets, such as clearing more snow in cul de sacs.

Follow parking restrictions

When your subzone is active, move vehicles off the street on your scheduled maintenance day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Temporary no parking signs are placed 24 hours in advance of maintenance. After 24 hours, on-street parking restrictions are in effect, and vehicles must be removed from the street until the signs are taken away.

Vehicles left in active subzones or where temporary no parking signs are placed are subject to a $120 Notice of Violation plus towing fees.
