Abasand Pumphouse Optimization & Membrane Replacement

Introduction:

 RMWB’s Abasand Pumphouse (potable water pumphouse and underground reservoir) is located adjacent to the common school field between Ecole Boreale and Father Beauregard School in Abasand Heights. 

The pumphouse and reservoir are being upgraded during the 2026 construction season.  The site is bounded by chain link security fencing with secured gate access off of Alderwood Drive.  When required, temporary construction fence will be set up to maintain separation of the work site.

Upgrades to the reservoir will require earthworks operations over and around the underground reservoir.  Upgrades to the pumphouse will have limited to no impact to adjacent properties.

Construction is scheduled to commence June 1, 2026, with completion anticipated by the end of October 2027. During this time, the most notable activity will be the earthworks associated with exposing the top of the underground reservoir and after remedial work it will be covered again.  Heavy equipment will be operating around the reservoir to complete this work. 

 Equipment and haul truck access will be via Abasand Drive adjacent to Ecole Boreale.  In addition to this, a drill rig with vacuum truck support will be on site to assist with the installation of deep cathodic protection for the underground piping system associated with the facility.  Drilling activity will last approximately one week.

Haul Truck / Equipment Access

Temporary traffic control measures will be set up adjacent to Ecole Boreale to allow access for haul trucks and equipment access to Abasand Drive. Vibration monitoring will be conducted to confirm construction activities do not damage any property.  No impact to schools is anticipated as part of this project.
