Calling all mural artists – help brighten up the community with new murals!

Local artists are encouraged to apply by July 13 for a paid opportunity to install more murals throughout the region.

Local artists at every stage of their creative careers are encouraged to apply for a range of upcoming mural opportunities. From legacy murals to transit stations and skateparks, there will be numerous murals installed this year throughout the region.

The new murals are part of the RMWB’s Public Art program and will help grow and diversify public art across the region while supporting local and emerging talent.

Mural locations:

Currently, there are three confirmed locations for new murals: the Royal Canadian Legion McMurray Branch 165, the retaining wall at the Thickwood Transit Terminal and the new Gregoire Skate Park.

Suggestions for other mural locations are welcomed from the community! Contact Pulse or email culture@rmwb.ca to share suggestions for new murals that will brighten up the region.

Who Can Apply:

Applicants must reside within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, or in a First Nation or Métis community in the surrounding area, and be 18 years of age or older as of July 13, 2026.

Three to six local artists are anticipated to be hired to install the new murals. When possible, experienced muralists will be paired with emerging artists to help mentor the local public art community.

Selected artists will be compensated based on their experience and the size and scope of their mural, with approved supplies covered in the project budget.

Apply by July 13!

Submit your application through the online form at rmwb.ca/murals by July 13, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. MST. Successful applicants will be contacted within two weeks of the deadline to discuss project options, design parameters, budget and timelines.
