Check your mail and payment options for 2025 property tax notices

Property owners should watch their mailboxes next week for their 2025 property tax notices.

Payment by mail may be interrupted by a Canada Post strike or service interruption, if no agreement is reached between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers by May 22. The RMWB is mailing out property tax notices earlier than usual, to allow delivery before any potential service disruption on or after May 22.

Property owners can pay their taxes online using the RMWB online payment portal or by another method not relying on mail, to avoid delays or penalties.

Register online for Assessment & Taxation information

New or existing owners can register online at taxassessment.rmwb.ca to get a copy of their tax notice.

Paying your 2025 property tax

Apart from mail, property owners have a variety of ways to pay their property taxes:

  • At a bank/financial institution
  • Through internet banking
  • Online
  • In-person at a municipal office (in Fort McMurray, in-person payments can only be made at the Jubilee Building)

For those who wish to pay monthly and do not have property taxes included in their mortgage, the RMWB also offers the Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP).

For the full list of options and payment details, visit rmwb.ca/propertytaxes.

Payment must be received by the Municipality or electronically processed by a third-party financial institution by Monday, June 30, 2025 to avoid late payment penalties.

Did you purchase a new home in 2025 or move recently?

Please ensure the RMWB has your information! This includes proof of purchase for your property, so you receive your 2025 tax notice or changes to your mailing address.

2025 Property Tax Bylaw

RMWB Council approved the 2025 Property Tax Bylaw at their April 22 meeting.

While Council did not raise any municipal property tax rates this year, the Province has decided there will be an education tax rate hike of 21% for residential properties in Wood Buffalo, and 15% for non-residential properties.

The Municipality is expected to collect just over $505M through property taxes for this taxation year. Property taxes are used to support the municipal programs and services communities rely on.

Any property owner who hasn’t received their property tax notice by June 7 should contact Pulse at 780-743-7000 or pulse@rmwb.ca
