Community Investment Program open for grant applications

Information sessions to be held throughout September in Fort McMurray and rural communities

Community organizations, teams and individuals can now apply for 2025 grant funding through the Community Investment Program (CIP).

CIP helps social profit organizations deliver programs, projects, services and events, and supports cultural activities, arts and individual and team development in amateur sports throughout the region.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted.

Community Impact Grant

The Community Impact Grant provides funding through two grant streams to local non-profit organizations to deliver programs, projects and events that improve quality of life for residents in the region.

Games Legacy Grant

The Games Legacy Grant provides funding to support development in amateur sport, cultural activities and arts, and to residents competing at a provincial, national or international level.

Individual applicants may apply for grant funding up to a maximum of $1,500 and team or group applicants may apply for a maximum of $3,000. 

Community Sustaining Grant

The Community Sustaining Grant provides funding to registered non-profit organizations that contribute to three or more funding priorities that are aligned with Council’s Strategic Plan and other Council-approved plans. Applications are by invitation only.

Community Capital Grant

The Community Capital Grant provides funding to registered non-profit organizations to support the enhancement, development or renovation of public use facilities. The proposed capital project must contribute to three or more funding priorities that are aligned with Council’s Strategic Plan and other Council-approved plans.

2025 CIP funding priorities

The funding priorities for the CIP 2025 grant cycle are:

  • partnership and collaboration
  • rural and Indigenous communities and relationships
  • social participation
  • community support services and wellness
  • value of culture, heritage and regional pride
  • diversity, inclusion and accessibility
  • hosting events and/or new business and visitors
