FireSmart rebate program helps homeowners complete wildfire resistant upgrades and save money

Book a free home assessment to get started

Homeowners across the region may be eligible for thousands of dollars in rebates for wildfire resistant home upgrades through the Municipality’s FireSmart Home Rebate Program after the completion of a home assessment.

The FireSmart Home Rebate Program provides grants for wildfire resistant upgrades to eligible homeowners who complete select work. The program helps eligible homeowners complete upgrades to reduce the risk of wildfire damage to homes and properties.

Funding for the program is provided by the Municipality, with additional support through a $200,000 grant from Intact Insurance. This program is available in all communities across the municipality.

Book a free FireSmart Home Assessment before starting work

To qualify for a rebate, homeowners must complete a free FireSmart Home Assessment before work begins. During the assessment, homeowners will receive personalized recommendations and information about how to apply for available rebates.

Rebates will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis after confirmation of the completed work by FireSmart team members.

Eligible home upgrades and rebate amounts:

  • Roof replacement – up to $2,000 (e.g., repairing old/damaged asphalt shingles)
  • Roof upgrade – up to $2,000 (e.g., replacing wood shake shingles with asphalt shingles)
  • Deck upgrade – up to $1,000 (e.g., replacing wood decking with a fire-resistant material)
  • Window upgrade – up to $1,000 (e.g., replacing single-pane windows with multi-pane windows)
  • Fence/gate upgrade – up to $1,000 (e.g., replacing wooden fences or gates that attach to the home with a fire-resistant material)
  • Siding upgrade – up to $4,000 (e.g., replacing vinyl siding with stucco)
  • New home construction – eligible for a siding or decking upgrade rebate

Rebates will be available until program funds are exhausted, limited to one rebate per address and one per homeowner.

Book an assessment and you can win!

Last year, more than 400 FireSmart Home Assessments across the Region were completed, helping homeowners better understand how to reduce wildfire risk around their properties. Everyone who completes a FireSmart Home Assessment in 2026 will be entered into a draw to win one of three new chainsaw prize packages.
