FireSmart team completed more than 570 home assessments during 2026 season
More than $240,000 distributed through FireSmart Home Rebate program
It was a successful 2026 season for the FireSmart Home Assessment and FireSmart Home Rebate Programs.
The FireSmart team completed more than 570 home assessments across the Region and offered important advice to residents on how to reduce the wildfire risk to their properties. Homeowners who had a home assessment completed were also eligible to take part in the FireSmart Home Rebate Program.
In 2026, the team distributed more than $240,000 in rebates to homeowners who had an assessment done and completed recommended wildfire resistant upgrades to their homes. All program funds available this year were expended.
High program demand caused delays
Due to the high demand for both programs, there were delays in scheduling inspections this season. The FireSmart team was also unable to complete all the requested home assessments before the end of the program.
Interested residents may request another assessment when the programs begin again in spring 2027.
Funding for the rebate program is provided by the Municipality, with additional support through a $200,000 grant from Intact Insurance. This program is available in all communities across the municipality.
