Flood Mitigation – Reach 6 Temporary Shipyard Relocation

Introduction:

Flood Mitigation – Reach 6 includes construction of an earth berm along Clearwater Drive from Riedel Street to Longboat Landing, as well as underground storm sewer improvements at Alberta Drive and Marshall Street. Construction on Reach 6 which began in early December 2025.

The earth berm is being constructed to the 1:200-year flood elevation of 250.9 m. As part of the berm construction, the Heritage Shipyard will be temporarily relocated beginning August 17, 2026. The relocation is expected to take approximately two weeks.

Clearwater Drive at Alberta Drive will be closed from August 17 to August 30, 2026, to accommodate construction activities. Please use alternate routes and allow additional travel during the closure. Construction schedules and road closure dates may fluctuate due to weather conditions and construction progress. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Trail is closed for the entire length of Clearwater Drive from Ridel Street to Frankin Ave for the remainder of 2026.
