Home fire safety focus of door-knocking campaign in select neighbourhoods

Fire Prevention teams visiting Cartier Mobile Home Park, Cartier Heights, Timber Heights, Bear Ridge neighbourhoods – free alarms offered

Fire Prevention teams will be visiting more than 1,000 local homes in select neighbourhoods this spring and summer to offer free fire safety inspections.

Free home assessments, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms offered

This year’s Home Fire Safety Program will focus on the Bear Ridge, Cartier Heights, Cartier Mobile Home Park, and Timber Heights neighbourhoods. Teams will go door-to-door to offer inspections. If existing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are found to be outdated or not working, free replacements will be provided.

“We want people to be safe and live in safer homes,” says Fire Marshal Nick Brenner. “People have a much better chance of escaping a house fire if there are working smoke alarms in the home.”

If preferred, an online checklist assessment is also an option for residents of selected neighbourhoods. Review the online checklist and find more information on the program at rmwb.ca/HFSP .
