Notice - Provincial referendum signage

A provincial referendum on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, is being administered by Elections Alberta – which is responsible for planning the election and for guidelines around all referendum signs.

The Municipality does not regulate election signs or election advertisements related to the referendum. The Election Statutes Amendment Act, passed by the Government of Alberta in 2025, limits the ability of municipalities to regulate this type of advertising.

The RMWB does not allow referendum nor election signage on the property of its facilities. The Municipality may also limit signage if it causes a public safety issue (blocking sightlines, etc.) or impacts municipal operations.
