Official candidate list for Ward 4 municipal byelection released

(Fort McMurray, AB – October 8, 2024) – The list of candidates for the Municipal Ward 4 byelection is now official. The official list (in alphabetical order) is as follows.

The Ward 4 byelection has been called to fill the vacancy left by the passing of Councillor Jane Stroud. The elected candidate will represent the communities of Anzac, Conklin, Gregoire Lake Estates and Janvier as Ward 4 Councillor until the Municipal election on Oct. 20, 2025. 

Voting opportunities

Voters in Ward 4 go to the polls on Nov. 4, 2024. Advance Voting Day will be held on Oct. 29 in Anzac and Conklin and on Oct. 30 in Janvier. Ward 4 residents must bring proper identification to vote.  Find a list of all accepted voter identifications and requirements on the municipal website.

Special Ballots for eligible voters unable to vote in-person

Eligible voters unable to cast their ballot in-person on the advance voting days or Election Day, can apply for a Special Ballot. Residents in Ward 4 may vote by Special Ballot if they:

  • Won’t be in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo on Oct. 29, Oct. 30, or Nov. 4
  • Have a physical disability preventing them from voting in-person
  • Are an Election Officer

Applications for Special Ballots must be submitted by noon on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024.  Votes cast on Special Ballots must be received by the Elections Office before 4 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4, 2024.
