Homelessness Reduction Innovation Fund will support 30 new local housing placements plus additional support staff.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo has been selected to receive $497K in federal grant funding from the Homelessness Reduction Innovation Fund (HRIF), which is administered from the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH). The HRIF provides one-time grants for community projects aimed at achieving measurable reductions in homelessness.
The grant funding will support:
· 30 additional local housing placements
· 2 housing coordinators
· 1 landlord support liaison
These additional resources will help improve access to housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness through collaborative case conferencing. The project will run from Nov. 1, 2025 – Aug. 31, 2026.
