Project Details/Background
Construction work for 2026 includes the installation of new watermain piping and fittings for connection to the new pressure reducing valve and valve chamber installed in late 2025 within the green space behind the Bell Crescent adjacent to Highway 63. Excavation and trenching is required to complete the work.
Community Benefit
This will improve the water flow to communities south of the Urban Service Area which includes the Saline Creek Plateau, Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates, Saprae Creek Estates, and the Fort McMurray Airport. The station also creates opportunities for a redundant (back-up) supply of water in the event of an emergency.
Construction Impacts
The green space will be closed until the crew completes work and site restoration can be completed.
Special Instructions for Residents
Pedestrian and motorist access in the area will be restricted through the various stages of construction. Any restrictions will be planned to minimize access interruptions for residents and businesses in the project area.
Access will be maintained at all times in the event of an emergency. All businesses in the project area remain accessible during the project timeframe.
For your safety, and the safety construction crews, please keep away from heavy equipment, and obey all signage.
