Walk together, learn together
Canada Day is a time to come together as a community and celebrate in a way that fosters unity, understanding and respect.
We acknowledge and honour the land on which we live, work and play - Treaty 8 territory- the traditional and ancestral land of the Cree, Dene and the unceded territory of the Métis.
Each of us can participate in advancing reconciliation by:
- Listening and learning from Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Participating in events that honour and celebrate Indigenous cultures
- Reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Report and the 94 Calls to Action
- Taking the free online Indigenous Learning Series
- Joining the It’s Time to Read Book Club to explore Indigenous history, culture and the experiences of local Indigenous communities
