Snow dump sets record! Winter maintenance continues

Spring work is underway with crews clearing catch basins, repairing potholes and getting ready to start street sweeping.

This is the final Winter Maintenance Zone weekly update as the regular Subzone schedule is now complete. Crews will continue to clear back-alleys and catch basins to support the spring thaw and closely monitor street and weather conditions. Should additional winter maintenance be needed, temporary no-parking signs will be used.

As temperatures continue to warm up, crews will be focusing on ensuring storm drains are clear, repairing potholes, and addressing spring priorities.

Mountains of snow at disposal sites

It is estimated that a combined 757,208 cubic metres of snow has been collected at the Tower Rd. and Dickinsfield snow disposal sites. The Tower Rd. site alone has seen its highest recorded volume of snow this year, with an estimated 530,194 cubic metres surpassing last season’s total of approximately 404,695 cubic metres.

The Tower Rd. snow disposal site remains open at this time. Closing details will be shared in advance with permit holders.

Winter Maintenance public engagement opportunities coming soon

In October of 2026, the Urban Ice and Snow Control Policy (OPE-150) will expire. As Public Works prepares updates for Council, there will be opportunities this spring for residents to share feedback through a public survey and by attending in-person events. Input gathered will be reviewed and considered as the updated policy is developed. Public engagement details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The season of street sweeping and potholes is here

Pothole repairs are ongoing, and crews are actively working to fix potholes on municipal roadways and property.
