Spring collection events return across the region
Drop off yard waste, pet waste and household items this spring
The Municipality is offering several spring collection programs to help safely and easily dispose of unwanted household items, recycle more materials, and keep items out of the landfill that do not belong.
Programs this spring include Yard Waste Collection, Pet Waste Drop-Off, Heavy Item Pickup, and Big Bin Events.

Full program details, including accepted materials, preparation requirements and any applicable fees, are available at rmwb.ca/collectionevents.
Free Pet Waste Drop Off
Pet Waste Drop-Off events are happening at four locations this spring, giving pet owners a free and convenient way to dispose of pet waste. With new landfill disposal fees for pet waste in effect as of April 1, 2026, these free events offer a cost-saving option for proper disposal. Pet waste must be double bagged for drop-off.

If you cannot attend an event, double-bagged pet waste can also be placed in your black curbside bin, provided it does not exceed 15 per cent of the total bin space.
Household pet waste cannot be disposed of in blue bins as it contaminates recyclable materials and for the same reason should not be disposed of in park bins located on trails, in parks or at Transit stops.
Yard Waste Collection
Weekly yard waste collection will resume this spring. Start date will be shared once finalized, as the weather warms and conditions allow.
To participate:
-
Set yard waste at the curb on your regular collection day and time once the program begins
-
Use paper yard waste bags
-
Keep one foot between bags and bins.
-
Keep branches bundled and within size limits
Yard waste can also be dropped off at the municipal landfill year-round, seven days a week, excluding statutory holidays, from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at no charge.
Heavy Item Pickup
The Heavy Item Pickup program helps dispose of large household items in a convenient and cost-effective way. Up to 4 items per household can be registered and picked up curbside.
