Support your cause with WinterPLAY fundraising opportunities

Multiple opportunities are available for individuals and groups looking to support their cause at WinterPLAY.

(Fort McMurray, AB – January 15, 2026) – WinterPLAY is inviting community members to participate in fundraising opportunities and is seeking referees for the Shootout on the Snye pond hockey tournament. 

Fundraising opportunities available for community groups 

Groups fundraising for a local non-profit are eligible to apply for general event support and pancake breakfast support opportunities. Groups of seven will receive $700 per four-hour shift. 

Duties could include: 

  • Keeping the event site free of garbage and recycling, including inside and outside of tents. 

  • Monitoring the community bonfire. 

  • Supervising ice slides and sculptures while ensuring residents adhere to event rules and guidelines. 

  • Assisting with horse-drawn carriage rides, fireworks and other activities as needed. 

  • Supervision of the welcome tent. 

  • Coordinating the pancake breakfast 

Set up a snack corner at the WinterCHALET  

The WinterCHALET heated tent is available for local commercial or social profit organizations to provide food sales during WinterPLAY. 

Organizers are seeking a maximum of three organizations per day to manage the following stations: 

  • Snacks Station (chips, pop, popcorn, candy and similar items) 

  • BBQ Station (hotdogs, hamburgers) 

  • Café Station (coffee, tea, muffins, cookies and other baked goods) 

Complete an application to let organizers know your availability and what food items you plan to serve. Suitable vendors will be contacted by Feb. 12. 

Referees needed at Shootout on the Snye! 

WinterPLAY’s four-on-four pond hockey tournament officially kicks off on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22. 

Referees will be compensated $25 per 35-minute game. 

Referee duties may include: 

  • Verify players on each team. 

  • Support with timekeeping and scorekeeping.  

Access to Snye restricted until Feb. 28 

As organizers begin to prepare for WinterPLAY 2026, access to the Snye will be restricted from late January until Feb. 28. Please stay tuned for more details in the days to come. 

For those looking to access the Clearwater River, please use the Tom Weber and Raphael Cree boat launches. 

Celebrate WinterPLAY from Feb. 20 to 24 

Many community favourites are back! Enjoy activities like the Shootout on the Snye, horse-drawn carriage rides and a spectacular fireworks display.

Remember to bundle up and dress warmly. There are limited warm-up spots available.
