Syncrude Athletic Park – Trail Rehabilitation

Introduction:

Construction to rehabilitate approximately 2 km of walking trails at Syncrude Athletic Park will begin by Mid-July 2026 and is expected to be completed by October 2026.

This project is being completed in preparation for the 2027 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games while providing long-term improvements for residents and park users.

What work will be completed?

During construction, crews will:

  • Rehabilitate approximately 2 km of walking trails
  • Replace damaged trees where needed
  • Restore grass and landscaped areas after construction

Most trails will remain open throughout construction. Only the section where work is taking place will be temporarily closed. 

What to Expect?

Trail & Park Access

 

·         The spray park and most trails will remain open throughout construction

·         Only the trails where crews are actively working will be temporarily closed

·         Please follow the posted signs to safely reach open trails

While work is underway, you may see:

·         Construction equipment

·         Workers on site

·         Temporary trail detours

·         Noise during working hours
