Tetra Tech Road Network Data Collection project

The RMWB is undertaking condition ratings of the paved road network and associated infrastructure.

The Municipality collects road, curb & gutter, sidewalk and similar condition data, generally on a three-year cycle to ensure the changing conditions are captured and considered in the asset management program and the annual municipal budget.

This years’ data collection program is currently underway by a company called Tetra Tech. The roads survey is done using a van, driven on the road at approximately 30 km/hour. You may also see workers conducting manual data collection on sidewalks and paved trails.

The survey vehicle looks to identify and locate most roadway defects, such as cracks, ruts, potholes, patches, etc.

A further survey will be undertaken to determine the roadway strength, key in determining the remaining life cycle of the roadway structure. That vehicle and trailer will do stop-and-go testing every 30 meters.
