Westview Public School Playground Upgrade-Construction Project
Introduction:
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is upgrading the playground at Westview Public School in Thickwood during the summer of 2026.
The project includes removing components of the existing playground, installing new and additional playground equipment and surfacing, improving drainage and restoring the playground area after construction.
Construction is expected to start June 29th, 2026 and be completed in August 2026.
Work will take place within the school grounds and playground area.
For everyone's safety, the playground will be closed during construction and will reopen once all work is complete and the site has been inspected.

Project Details:
- Remove existing aging playground equipment and surfacing
- Install new playground equipment, surfacing and site features
- Improve drainage in the playground area
- Restore the playground and surrounding area after construction
Community Benefit:
This project will provide updated playground equipment for students and community members. The project will also improve drainage and the overall condition of the playground area.
The public are encouraged to St. Gabriel’s School (across the street) during construction.
