Wide load on Fort Chipewyan Winter Road on Monday
Fort Chipewyan Winter Road southbound closed from 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Feb. 23
Another wide load of two modular homes is heading north on the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road on Monday morning, Feb. 23.
Southbound travel from Fort Chipewyan to Fort McMurray will be temporarily unavailable from 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. Northbound drivers should also expect delays on the winter road during this time.
A third wide load is expected to travel up the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road in the coming weeks, and details will be announced once confirmed.
The winter road is currently at its maximum weight limit of 45,000 kg.
The La Loche Winter Trail remains at its maximum load limit of 27,500 kg.
Important reminders
- Stay on the right-hand side of the road, especially on hills.
- All heavy vehicles, like fuel trucks and semi-trailers, require a permit to use the winter road. Please submit permit applications as soon as possible to prevent any delays.
