Winter Maintenance Subzones 1 and 2 active Oct. 26 to 30

Expected weekend snowfall activates Winter Maintenance Zone program and parking restrictions

Subzones 1 and 2 will be active from Oct. 26 to 30 for snow plowing operations with on-street parking restrictions in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Vehicles parked in active subzones will be subject to a $400 ticket and may be towed to the nearest available lawful parking location.

If you’re not sure where to park, check out your WMZ map to find the nearest available Priority Two or Priority Three street.

If your vehicle is towed, please contact Pulse for its location at 780-743-7000.

Subzones 3 and 4 are inactive at this time, which means parking restrictions are not in effect and vehicles can remain parked on the street.

Prepare for winter maintenance

There's a lot you can do to prepare for the first winter maintenance activation of the season – even if your Subzone is inactive:

  • Confirm your Subzone and maintenance day by checking on-street signage or using the Find Your Zone tool at rmwb.ca/WMZ.
  • Remove belongings from your curb – like hockey/basketball nets and curb mats – to prevent delays and damage to personal items.
  • Sign up for weekly WMZ email alerts.

Expect to see crews on priority routes this weekend

Crews will begin plowing priority routes this weekend if we see the amount of snow currently forecasted.

If you live on a Priority One, Priority Two, or Priority Three route, you can still park on your street when it is being plowed, as it's big enough for the plow to go around parked vehicles.

If you're not sure if your street is part of the WMZ program or a priority route, use the Find Your Zone tool and enter your street address.

Clear driveways and sidewalks

Residents are responsible for clearing snow from their sidewalks and driveways within 48 hours after a snowfall.

Help keep neighbours and crews moving by shoveling snow onto your yard or the green space between driveways. Snow should never be shoveled onto the street or around fire hydrants.
