Wood Buffalo shines at the 2025 Communities in Bloom Symposium
Beautification efforts were recognized throughout the region with three achievement awards.
(Fort McMurray, AB – November 4, 2025) – The RMWB joined several municipalities from across Canada, Ireland, Italy, and Slovenia on stage at the 2025 Communities in Bloom (CiB) National and International Awards Ceremonies on Oct. 18.
Highlighting community beautification efforts, awards recognized active community participation, sustainable environmental initiatives, and ongoing improvement to communities.
The RMWB was honoured to win three awards at this year’s event:
· Community Appearance Award
· Landscape Award
· Best Downtown Area Award
Community contributions to beautification
Some standout programs that contributed to the Municipality receiving the awards include:
· The Downtown Revitalization Incentive Program (DRIP) providing grant funding to help businesses, commercial property owners, and community organizations improve their buildings and spaces in the downtown core.
· The RMWB Parks department maintaining vibrant summer floral displays throughout the region, enhancing community spaces.
· The FireSmart Interpretive Trail demonstrating resiliency and sustainability in our region. Showcasing FireSmart plants and trees, it provides visitors with valuable information and practical examples of wildfire-resilient landscaping and practices.
· The Nominate your Neighbour, Adopt-A-Trail and Community Clean-up volunteers contributing to keeping the region clean and beautiful.
