Yard waste curbside collection starts May 13
Spring is here and so is yard waste season!
Starting May 13, yard waste will be picked up on your usual collection day. Please remember that all yard waste must be in brown paper bags and placed beside your other bins, leaving a one-foot space for collection, before 7:30 a.m.
Accepted materials
The following materials can go in your brown paper yard waste bags:
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
- Flowers
- Weeds
- Culled plants
- Small twigs less than 30 centimetres (12 inches) long
Never miss a collection day
This year, yard waste collection will return to a weekly service. Use our online calendar tool to help prepare for collection dates and seasonal waste events. Set reminders, look up your collection service and help sort your waste using the what goes where tool.
Not accepted in brown paper bags
The following materials cannot go in your brown paper yard waste bags:
- Kitchen food scraps
- Pet waste

Free yard waste drop-off at the landfill
Yard waste can also be dropped off for free at the municipal landfill year-round, seven days a week from 8:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays). All yard waste dropped at the landfill must also be in brown paper bags and be under 50 pounds per bag in order to be free.
