Permits and Resources

Apply for permits through E-Permitting or by visiting 9909 Franklin Avenue during regular business hours.

Before you start your next project, it’s important to be informed about the types of permits required to help ensure your project is completed safely and on time. There are two main categories of permits:

  • Development permits address issues related to community planning, bylaws, land use, image and compatibility. They are required for new builds, changes in property use, or additions to existing structures.
  • Safety codes permits ensure that the necessary legislation, regulations and policies are followed for construction and renovation projects.

*E-Permitting may be intermittently unavailable on Wednesdays from 5 to 10 p.m. for scheduled maintenance.

Change of Use Exemptions for Permitted Uses

Land Use Bylaw Amendment 21/015 exempts some permitted uses in prescribed commercial districts from a Change of Use Development Permit.

Amendments

Amendment applications are used to request changes to the existing Land Use Bylaw and statutory plans (Area Structure Plan and Area Redevelopment Plan). These changes will be reviewed by Council and a decision will be either accepted or rejected.
