Drop off household hazardous waste at free event on Sept. 12

Take a free opportunity to get rid of your old electronics, fuels, chemicals and other household hazardous items at the annual Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Roundup! 

Event details

When: Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026

Where: Centerfire Place parking lot – 110 Eymundson Road   

Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

Cost: Free 

The roundup provides a free and convenient way to safely dispose of items that don’t belong in curbside garbage or recycling bins.

Everyday hazardous items can cause problems if they end up in regular garbage or recycling. Cylinders and batteries may leak or rupture under pressure, and chemicals can create hazards for landfill staff or impact soil and water if not handled properly.

Electronics also require proper disposal to recover materials and prevent contamination. 

Accepted items at the roundup

Examples of accepted items at the event include: 

Paint (oil and water-based) 

Engine oil, gas and diesel 

Household chemicals (cleaning supplies, weed killer, bear spray) 

Propane tanks (1–20 lb) 

Fire extinguishers, helium and spray foam cylinders 

Fluorescent bulbs (compact fluorescent, black light, ultraviolet, neon, H.I.D) 

Electronics (TVs, computers, vacuums, tools, toys, lamps, solar panels) 

Batteries (all sizes, including vehicle batteries)

Drop off open year-round at regional landfill  

These materials can also be dropped off year-round at the public drop-off at the Regional Landfill. For hours and directions, visit rmwb.ca/landfill.
