Recruitment begins for local Wood Buffalo economic development board

Help drive regional growth and gain valuable experience; Apply by Nov. 17 at rmwb.ca/boards

(Fort McMurray, AB – Oct. 31, 2024) Applications are now being accepted for a new local Board of Directors of the Wood Buffalo Economic Development Corporation (WBEDC). This board oversees the work of Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Economic Development & Tourism.

The new board, including two voting Council members, will be in place before the end of the year and be tasked with finding ways to enhance economic and tourism growth, streamline operations, improve service delivery and reduce costs.

The board will be asked to provide recommendations to Council within 90 days of being appointed and have an updated mandate to oversee the strategic direction, operations and financial governance of WBEDC.

Interested community members can find more information, including instructions on how to apply, at rmwb.ca/boards. Applications will be accepted until 12:59 p.m. on Nov. 17.

Applicants to bring knowledge and expertise to board

Future members will be required to be permanent residents of the region and will bring expertise in one or more areas, including economic development, tourism, strategic planning, governance and leadership, innovation, as well as policy, advocacy and regulatory knowledge and experience.
